Hi art friends! I'm back! : )
I had a wonderful time at Art and Soul in Portland! I got to catch up with the lovely Sara Naumann and...
...
the dynamic duo: Mija Marie and Christine Hendry. We spent a day shopping on Alberta Street in Portland. What fun!!!
...
While on Alberta Street, I treated myself to some awesome fabric from Bolt Neighborhood Fabric Boutique. Doesn't this fabric look awesome framed in our Wood House Ornament?
...
I also couldn't resist stocking up on some washi tapes from my new favorite store in Portland: collage!
...
I'm liking the idea of washi tapes on the back of our Wood House Ornaments. : )
...
While at Art and Soul, our house themed items were a big hit! So, guess what, I've put an incredible selection of our house themed items ON SALE! Woohoo!
...
And I'm excited to say that...back by popular demand: Our Wood House Blocks! Yay! Perfect for the holidays!
...
I've been thinking about decorating some houses with my beach rocks. : )
...
Christine Hendry gave me this beautiful ATC at Art and Soul...isn't it gorgeous? It includes our Mini Handmade Homes collage sheet image...I just love it! I've put it on sale for you too! : )
...
While at Art and Soul, I got to meet the wonderful Jen Crossley from Australia. She shared these charming papers and transparencies that are made by her friend in Australia. Isn't that sweet? GUESS WHAT? I'm sharing them with you!
My kitties are hungry and want to pick a winner! Simply post a comment to this post and they will randomly pick a winner next week. If you're up for it, tell me about any art conventions or retreats that you've gone to - I'd love some recommendations for next year.
See you next week - I'll be introducing you to my dear friend, Linda Larsen of Objects and Elements! Wait till you see what she made with our mermaid tails!!!! : )
I was at the Portland Art & Soul for a Zentangle class. Possibly we passed by in the halls! Didn't get to make it to Vendor night worse luck. I'd love to win these these papers and transparencies. Thank you for the chance to win!

I've never been to an art convention or retreat, but I'm going to "ARTzona" 2013, an event in Arizona organized by some folks who are active on the ATCs for All website. I'm a mixed media collage fool right now, making lots of goodies to take for trading. It's why I just ordered a bunch of new stuff from you. But one can never have enough. LOL

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I've never been lucky enough to attend an art convention or retreat. Everything is way too far away from me.
What wonderful papers and transparencies. Hmmmm, wonder what it would take to get some shipped to the US.

Lovely papers and transparencies!
There are only 2 stamping conventions in Germany ("Stempelmesse Süd" in Stuttgart in April and "Stempelmekka" in Hagen in September but there is another in the Netherlands in April "Art Specially Event" in Zeist in April - there we can buy some of your goodies at the booth of "Art Journey"

I agree, Art and Soul was great fun, and I also did the tour of Alberta Street. Found a wonderful gallery at the end of the street- Guardino's, or something like that. Really fun art!

I have never been to a ART Retreat but I would love too! I did take a class from Tim Holtz this summer. Does that count?? I do have a question! Can a person sell what is made from your items? I would love to win a prize.

Surprisingly, though I've been to many, many art conventions and retreats, one of the best I've ever experienced is QuiltFest, which is held in Houston, TX each year in late October/early November. (I think there's also one in California). I've never quilted in my life, but it is WAY more than just quilting, and the quilts they do have can only be described as "ART quilts." There are literally over 1,000 vendors and hundreds of classes, and the Cloth Paper Scissors people always have mixed-media events (I took classes with Tracy Bautista and Beryl Taylor), contests and art trades. I spent over an hour in a booth that sold vintage jewelry, buttons, keys, etc. and got some great treasures. It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the possibilities!
One day I'll get to "Art and Soul" - it's on my bucket list!

Helga...the new ideas are fantastic. I have never been to an art retreat...I'm not sure if they even have them in New York? I love the new house cutouts and all your new ideas. You are such an inspiration! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!

The last art retreat I went to was Artful Journey in Jacksonville Fl 2005. Don't know if this is the same Artful Journey event coming up in February 2013 in California, which is offering some excellent workshops. As always, your tiny creations are amazing. Love the new house collages...my head is spinning with ideas to use them. I will be browsing the shop now. Thanks for sharing your art.

I love your house projects. I have purchased several of them already and just waiting for some inspiration to use them. Think I found some! I have never been to a retreat, not that I wouldnt love to go, but it does involve a good bit of cash. I do travel as far away as 3 hrs, however, to attend every stamp and scrapbook show. Love them, love their make and takes and love all those yummy products in one place.
