I've been doing quite a bit of re-organizing in my studio lately. In one bin, I stumbled upon these beautiful vintage belt buckles from the 1930s or 40s that I had completely forgotten about. I thought they would make cool, unique frames. I paired them up with these old cigarette cards that feature delightful yellow canaries...giving them the appearance of being in a cage. How awesome is that?

Enjoy! : ) You're welcome to use them in your personal artwork, jewelry, journals, etc. Or hold onto them for a future project. This item is not for resell though.

Here's a close up shot. I have a large collection of these fantastic vintage belt buckles and I'm totally loving them...I may just need to make another sheet or two in the future. : )

For your Weekly Dose of Cuteness, I thought I'd share this pretty photo of my fuzzy dog, Stella, that I took on our walk this morning.

Seeing pretty Summer daisies on my walk this morning got me inspired to play with our Wood Daisy Charms. I simply painted them white and added some items from my stash: a brass vintage finding, vintage compass, pink button and orange flower (Recollections Boutique Fleur - from Michaels Craft Stores). I'm thinking these would make a really cool charm bracelet.

As I mentioned, I've been moving my studio around. And I've been pulling together some of my treasures and goodies that I'd like to sell. I just don't have enough room for everything anymore. So, I'm thinking about opening an etsy shop. Do any of you have an etsy shop? Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any help or advice you can give.
Hope you have a great, art-filled week! See you next Thurs, August 25th! : )

I dont have an etsy but I have the UK equivalent "folksy". I find it very useful for getting rid of the crafted items you just dont have room for and its some cash in pocket to replace dwindling supplies lol. I would say go for it.

Long time.....miss yoU! You would do awesomely in Etsy especially since you have such great potential buyers with your Artchix fans! My shop is doing very well as a part time little venture, so if you have any questions, fire away. It is the only "art" I do lately since I still teach full time but I can pull together items for a collage and then just sell them. No scissors and glue to mess with and I still get to play with color!

Love the belt buckles and the daisies you did. Very cool. Your jewelry is always really inspiring.
Yes, go for Etsy! I buy on there when I have extra money and I have found some of the most wonderful items that I wouldn't find normally and I am not an eBay buyer. But please keep the stand alone store as well. ArtChix got me started in this collage/mixed media art back in 2005 and I would miss it terribly if it just disappeared.

Hey, Helga! I didn't know you had a dog! What a fluffy cutie - he is giving Bruno's britches a run for their money!
I just opened an Etsy shop last week and am having a ball with it. Met so many great people and love knowing that the stuff I make will eventually have a good home. It really was overdue; my studio is ready to burst! Wish I'd done it a long time ago.
It's super easy to get started; all you need is a banner (which you already have, though you'll have to modify it - Etsy banners are quite long & skinny!) and a few photos of your stuff. They make the process quite easy. The only part I really don't like is that you have to (HAVE TO!) provide 13 tags for your item, and sometimes you'll need to stretch your imagination to come up with that many! Still, it's fun and rewarding. Please let us know when you're up and running so we can rush over to Etsy and snap up all your goodies! :) :) :)
