New Art Challenge: Get Inspired by Making Inchies AND the Power of 3!
This week, make 5 more inchies (1" square collages)....one per day this week (with one day off) if possible. Or create them at your own pace. But this time, limit yourself to only 3 main items to play with. And please make one of your items something you've recycled.
I made these inchies using 3 main items (see them below). Plus, I added a bit of watercolor crayon and pen. When you make your inchies this week, you're welcome to use paints and pens and any art media you'd like. But limit your paper images to 3 main items...and make one of your
items a recycled item like a tea box, chocolate wrapping, wrapping paper, etc.
It's great to add recycling to your art!
Limiting your art materials is a wonderful way to expand your creativity! And I love how using the same materials can help develop your art into a series. My inchies ended up spelling out a good message: Welcome Chixies. Refresh. Recycle. Try art. : )
.....
When I made my inchies above, I used our new Green
Decorative Papers, the new Chixies Royal Purple Birds sheet and the packaging from
my favorite tea: Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice. Love them all! I also used our Watercolor Inchies which are a must-have because I hate measuring!

How To Play in This Art Challenge: Make 5 inchies using only 3 main items (and 1 of them needs to be something you've recycled). Scan them and post them online to your blog, flickr account, website or our YahooGroup (Photos section: "Helga's Blog Art Challenge").
Next, click on "Comments" at the bottom of this post and leave a note with a link to your art so I know where to see it online. In addition, please link back to my blog.
If you'd like to enter them for the new inchie collage sheet that I'm designing, email me 300 dpi tifs of your inchies. In exchange for your inchie art, you will get the digital sheet that I design for free.

Winners from our Last Art Challenge: Get Inspired by Making Inchies!
We had 27 wonderful artists play in our last art challenge. I printed all of the names on paper and set them on my art desk with treats and let MoMo gulp them down to pick 3 winners. I must say, she has quite a knack for picking great art....here are the winners:
Congrats Pam, Bonnie and Marion! You win an Inchie DreamBox to frame your favorite inchie in!
Gigi asked if there was any way I could make a new collage sheet featuring the gorgeous inchies from this art challenge! What a fantastic idea! Please email me 300 dpi tifs of your inchies and I'll turn them into a collage sheet! In exchange for your inchie art, you will get the digital sheet that I design for free. Please email me your inchies by next Tues morning, February 9.

Frame Your Inchies! One artist mentioned that now that she made her inchies...what should she do with them? Well, here's a great idea! Frame them!
First, I looked at the inchies that I made and decided on a color for my DreamBox. Then, I grabbed one of our Inchie DreamBoxes with Doors and painted it with lime green paint. I just dabbed on the paint with a makeup sponge. 3 coats were perfect. Easy peasy!
By the way, any acrylic paint that you have kicking around will work great on our DreamBoxes. I just happened to have this Metal Paint that I bought from Michaels on hand. It works great too!
.....
Next, I attached one of the inchies that I made to the inside the frame with a Glue Dot. And I added some pretty paper to the interior of the doors from our Chixies Royal Purple Birds sheet.
.....
Next, I started thinking about the outside of the DreamBox. I cut out the tiger from my recycled tea box, added a pink halo (from a little garland that I bought in Mexico...wish I could get more of these, sure do love them!) and attached everything with more Glue Dots.
.....
I kept playing and ended up adding another one of my inchies to the front of the doors. I cut it in half and attached it to the doors with Tacky Glue. Then added some pretty rhinestones.
.....
Ta da! I have this sitting by my computer to remind me to try art to refresh myself. : )
I have to say that I'm just in love with these little Inchie DreamBoxes! They're so perfect for framing your inchies and they make awesome gifts for yourself and loved ones! Who doesn't need a bit of happy art by their computer?
