Art Challenge #9 (Last one in our online class!)
Congratulations to the wonderful 10 artists that were able to complete the last art challenge in my online class. Fantastic! I loved seeing your gorgeous pieces and really enjoyed having you play in my online class. I would love to do this again in the future. : ) Before I announce the winners, I thought I'd share the piece that I made for the last challenge.
Art Challenge #9: Get Inspired by Pattern, Color, Texture, Your Reading Materials, Things You Enjoy, Your Loved Ones, a Project and Your Scraps! Pick 3 or more of these art challenges and combine them together to make one fabulous piece of art.
Here's where I started. These bags are filled with all of the wrapping paper, paper bags, etc...all leftover from Christmas. I couldn't possibly just toss everything into the recycle bin. No, no! I had to make something! So, I made a collage in my art journal.
.....
First, I ripped, cut and tore out my images and placed them in a grid shape layout. Here you'll find giftwrap, a non-winning lottery ticket, tags from gifts, photos of my pets and magazine images. In other words: My Reading Materials, Things I Enjoy, My Loved Ones and My Scraps. Woohoo, that's 4 challenges!
.....
Next, I glued everything down. Scribbled watercolor green crayon around the edges. And then brushed white gesso around the edges.....just to bring everything together.
.....
I kept playing and added circles with a plastic template, stickers to spell out "Xmas 2009" and made some paint splatters with an old toothbrush. Fun! A great way to remember this fun Christmas.
By the way, I added circles from our patterns challenge so that means this one collage incorporates 5 of the class art challenges. Sweet!
.....
While I was making this collage, Bruno and MoMo joined me. For awhile, Bruno nested in all of the Christmas wrapping bits. When he jumped away, MoMo came over and begged for pets. So cute!!!
.....
And now, the winners!
I had to wake Inca up so that she could pick the winners for this art challenge. So, it took her awhile but she eventually picked Linda, Bonnie and Laurence! Congrats artists! You win 3 free ARTchix sheets of your choice!
.....
And after much thought, I picked Buddhini as the winner of the $25 gift certificate to ARTchix Studio! I thought her stunning shadowbox that incorporated 5 of the class challenges with this incredible quote was amazing!
Artists, thank you so much for taking my online class! I hope that you keep all of the 9 lessons close to your heart and that you keep using them in your art projects in the future. I know I will! I've already found myself referring back to them when I'm stuck on a piece. They really help to expand one's creativity. : )
.....
Another way to expand your creativity: ART SWAPS!!!
I am extending the mailing date for our Chunky Gothic Arches Art Swap to Jan. 22, 2010 so that we all can have a bit more time. This is going to be a fantastic swap, won't you play along? For this swap, I made this 4" square collage with our Handmade Gothic Arches, Impressionist Gardens, Decorative Papers in Brown and Turquoise, Gold Flower Borders and Tell Me More.
.....
Happy Birthday Mom!
It's my Mom's birthday so I just had to share this little collage I made for her! My Mom is so very special to me...she has always supported and encouraged me in all that I do. She is an artist too and has taught me so much! I love you, Mom!
By the way, my Mom taught me how to cross-stitch, needlepoint, needlepunch and more so this image from Her Faves sheet seemed perfect. : )
aaawe thank you sweet, sleepy Inca for picking my name along with Bonnie and Laurence! You deserve an exta cat nap!
